This week's nugget: we think of churches and buildings, but the Church of England owns a large amount of land, and about 1/4 is agricultural land. All the churches together own an area 1.5 times the size of Greater London. And if you have a garden? They account for 4% of the land, that's more than all the nature reserves combined.

      Choral Evensong
    for Advent

    Sun 28 Nov 4.00
Prayer Book evensong dates back to the 16th century. Taking place as the day draws to a close and lasting around 45 minutes, it offers us a chance to take a moment to pause from our busy lives and reconnect with our spiritual lives. Join us and see why it appeals to so many people of all faiths and none.
    Connections   DROP IN TO CONNECTIONS
    MONDAY 29 NOVEMBER, 12:15-3:15pm
Our friendly social group meets for fun activities, and the chance to make new friends. At this month’s session you can learn to make an Advent decoration. There will also be time to chat over mulled wine and mince pies.
Please note: the free NHS Hearing Aid Clinic may not be able to resume quite yet due to NHS regulations.

    Christingle Service
    Sunday 5 December 10:00

Our 9:30 and 11:15 services combine to mark Advent Sunday with an All Age celebration in aid of The Children’s Society.

Everyone will get to make and take home a Christingle candle, reminding us that Jesus is the light of the world.

    Messy Church
    Sunday 12 Dec 3.00

Messy Church is church - but not as you know it.

    Booking essential - link here.
    (No 11.15 service this day)

We want to carry on serving those who look for a Sunday morning service, either more traditional (9:30am) or something short and informal (11:00am), but also make connections with those who cannot manage Sunday mornings, who want to come as a whole family and be messy! Messy Church also provides an opportunity for churches to do effective mission in the community.

    Carol Service

    Sunday 19 Dec 6.00

    Christmas Carols
    Christmas Readings

"Our website, a treasury of facts and photos, introduces you to our church family. For over 150 years the people of St James's have served the local community, marked the key moments in people’s lives, and learned together how to follow Jesus. We hope you find the information you are looking for here."  Revd Derek Winterburn
