The Parish Visitors Team offers pastoral care in the church community. The aim is to provide a link with the church for anybody who is unable to attend church or is in need of support or company at a particular time. The team supports the incumbent visit members of the congregation who are housebound and no longer able to come to services at the church.

The group have trained under the Diocese of London Parish Visiting Scheme to assist the priest by undertaking various ministries. They visit the elderly, those in hospital, or recently bereaved, or anybody who would just like a little friendly company over a cup of tea and a chat.

As well as keeping in contact with those who were sick or housebound, they were able to offer Home Communion to those who had missed coming to church. If anyone cannot get to church for communion, we can take it to them.

They also visit all families who bring their children to be baptised at St James’s and attend the baptism acting as a link between the family and the church.

Visitors have undertaken safeguarding training and a simple record of the visits is maintained for safeguarding.
